What children learn in Year 6 history
In Year 6, children often study Ancient Greece and its influence on the western world, and a non-European society such as Benin or the Maya.
They bring their knowledge together to compare periods and explain change and continuity.
Key goals for Year 6 include:
- compare Athens and Sparta
- explain where democracy and the Olympics began
- give examples of Greek influence today
