What children learn in Year 4 history
In Year 4, many schools study the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain: the invasion of AD 43, Boudica’s rebellion, Hadrian’s Wall and how life changed under Roman rule.
Children compare sources and ask why people in the past acted as they did.
Key goals for Year 4 include:
- give the key dates of Roman Britain
- tell the story of Boudica’s rebellion
- list ways the Romans changed Britain
US equivalent: Year 4 pupils are about the age of Grade 3. Each topic shows the closest Common Core standard.
