What children learn in Year 4 geography
In Year 4, children locate countries in Europe (including Russia) and North and South America. They study environmental regions and key physical and human characteristics, such as mountain ranges, rivers and major cities.
They compare a region of the UK with a region in a European country.
Key goals for Year 4 include:
- say which continent a country is in
- locate Russia and know it spans Europe and Asia
- name some countries in North and South America
US equivalent: Year 4 pupils are about the age of Grade 3. Each topic shows the closest Common Core standard.
