How it helps with times tables
The National Curriculum in England expects Year 2 pupils to recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, and Year 3 pupils to do the same for the 3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables. Quick recall comes from lots of short, happy practice. A board game gives that practice a reason: every right answer moves your rocket. The division and missing-number cards check that children can use each fact both ways round, not just chant the table.
For more practice on screen, play the 2, 5 and 10 times tables game or the 3, 4 and 8 times tables game.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. Download it, print it and play as often as you like with your family or class. There is no sign-up, no email and no catch. We hope you like it enough to look at our packs.
What age is it for?
Ages 6 to 8, roughly Years 2 and 3. The green cards use the 2, 5 and 10 times tables (Year 2) and the orange cards the 3, 4 and 8 times tables (Year 3). Mixed-age families can give each player their own deck.
Do I need a colour printer?
Colour looks best, but the game works in black and white because every square is labelled. Card or thicker paper makes the cards last longer.
Do I need a dice?
An ordinary dice works. If you don’t have one, page 6 has a fold-up dice to cut out and tape together.
Can I use it in school?
Yes, the free game can be printed for your own class. Please link to this page rather than uploading the PDF to other websites.
