Sentence shuffle

Move the word cards to build four little sentences.

For parents and teachers

Playing Sentence shuffle

Move the word cards into order. Use the arrows, or tap two cards to swap them. The capital letter starts each sentence and the full stop finishes it. Check each of four sentences.

What this game practises

The capital letter and full stop provide useful clues while children arrange each prepared sentence. Each puzzle has one target order. This practises reading a sentence for sense; it does not replace composing an original message. Afterwards, say a new sentence aloud and write it together on paper.

Progress and trying again

The normal game controls let children finish, save stars on this device and play again. A previous best result is kept when a later attempt scores less. Matching games count incorrect pairs; ordering games score the first check of each round; sorting games give another chance after a mistake. Take time to talk about a choice rather than racing.
