Match each little sentence to its capital letter and full stop.
For parents and teachers
Playing Sentence repair
Read the cards and match each one to its partner. Find six pairs, with no timer. Read the whole example before choosing.
What this game practises
Each prepared example needs a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end. The personal pronoun I is also capitalised. This matching game practises recognising a correctly written statement; afterwards, say and write an original sentence together. Questions use a question mark, explored in Full stop or question? Exclamation marks and other sentence purposes need wider teaching.
Progress and trying again
The normal game controls let children finish, save stars on this device and play again. A previous best result is kept when a later attempt scores less. Matching games count incorrect pairs; ordering games score the first check of each round; sorting games give another chance after a mistake. Take time to talk about a choice rather than racing.
