Tell it in order

Put the events in order, then tell the little story aloud.

For parents and teachers

Playing Tell it in order

Read the event cards. Move them into the order that makes the story work, then check. Play four little stories. After each one, tell it using first, then and finally.

What this game practises

The event cards give a short scaffold for retelling. Think about what must happen before something else can happen, then describe the finished sequence in your own words. The game scores only the prepared event order. A grown-up can listen to the spoken retelling, ask why an event happened and help a child explain their ideas; the website does not judge their speech.

Progress and trying again

The normal game controls let children finish, save stars on this device and play again. A previous best result is kept when a later attempt scores less. Matching games count incorrect pairs; ordering games score the first check of each round; sorting games give another chance after a mistake. Take time to talk about a choice rather than racing.
